The Pencil is Scarier than the Sword

A teacher wants to ban pencils because little miscreants can use them as weapons.
“A Massachusetts school district superintendent said a memo banning sixth graders from carrying pencils was written without district approval.North Brookfield School District interim Superintendent Gordon Noseworthy said Wendy Scott, one of two sixth-grade teachers at North Brookfield Elementary School, did not get approval from administrators before sending the memo to all sixth-grade parents, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported Thursday.
Geez, what next? A ban on erasers so no one gets inspired to “rub out” a rival for the tough guy status?
I can just see the first hit by the Steppenwolf Grandkids post-rap band “God damn the Pencil-pusher Man”.
Pencils don’t kill people, people with pencils kill people!
Now, you might think that the solution would be to buy the kids a computer but look what I found online in about 2 seconds of searching:

Ban school? Are you nutz? Have you any idea just how much mayhem a group of unemplyed science teachers can get into? After all, it was teacher that can up with that crossbow:, just a small demo on Hooke’s Law and conservation of energy… I can see the headlines now: “Gangs of science teachers run amock during the day. Film at 11″.
