I’m now engaged!
To Mary, in case there was some doubt, who will, after the vows are vowed, will NOT be known as “Dr. Jim’s Better Half”, but rather, “Dr. Jim’s Better Brain”.
It will be a deeply religious wedding, we are hoping the gods will bless it:
Jew-piter and Afro-dite are all in favour of it. Mary, in fact, sewed Jew-piter’s Kippah.
No date yet, but the end of May is looking good.
And after that, a trip to Ireland!
Now, the FAQ:
Where did we meet? Sort of online, on Richard Dawkins’ forum ca. 4 years ago, then in person at a Lethbridge Free Thuinkers meeting a little while later.
How will Mrs. Dr. Jim keep the good Dr. in line? There are already threats about painting the house pink and sticking doilies on everything. If I don’t repent at the thought of that, then I deserve what I get.
What do the cats think? Well, they simply love Mary, who gives them lots of attention, lovin’s, and cuddles, and is brilliant at feigning gross vexation at their antics.
How will the cats treat Mary’s little dachshund, Goliath? Here is one possiblility:

Wonderful news! Making sure Dr. Jim is not roaming the streets should provide surety to all and sundry, although why poor Mary is shouldering that responsibility leaves many of us perplexed. Worse, the economic consequences to the few remaining drinking establishments in Lethbridge (especially at the Uni) could be severe. Still, given the inevitable trade-offs as always with Dr. Jim (we won’t lose the Jazz-Babes, will we?), we are all safer, and the world is indeed a better place. Congratulations, both of you! All kidding aside; I do really mean that!
