Israel Travel Advice
Posted on June 24, 2011 at 10:24 pm by Dr. Jim
I have a friend who is off to Israel next week and he would like to know about any links, advice, websites, etc. that you can recommend regarding geography, travel , language, etc. He is a scientist who does a lot of biological, ecological stuff and knows enough not to order a side of shrimp with his bacon-cheeseburgers.
I’ve never been to Israel myself, so I’m not much use to him.
Anyway, if you can help Dan out, leave a comment.
As for me, I’m in Munich enjoying myself, but I still have a lot to do on my paper for the conference.

I would be happy to help you friend . I leave in Israel , so I do know (almost) everything.
Just for your comments :
We speak Hebrew or Arab in the Arab populated areas. Most of the people know at least basic English mainly in the large cities.
Many places are kosher (no pork, no seafood, no mix of meat with milk products ) . Nevertheless there are also many restaurants where you can find anything). There are many types of food : chinese, italian, roumanian, bulgarian, japanese. indian and so on.
Most of the poplar restaurants are oriental ( humous , shiskebab, etc)
Travel is mainly by cars and buses with some train lines.
There are many tourists tours all over the country guided in many languages : English, French, German, Spanish . Many of them include holly places for Jews, Christians, Muslims.
