Back to Blogging!

Man, I hate reality!

Anyway, I’m back to blogging. Currently I’m sitting in the San Francisco airport heading home after the Society of Biblical Literature meeting.

Mary and I had a great time. We ate way too much, I drank a bit to much, and we met up with some great people.

It was nice to see some old friends and meet some new ones. The biblioblogger’s get together was loads of fun, as was lunch with Phillip Davies and Kurt Noll. Met up with my former PhD supervisor, Graeme Auld and had a nice chat. Also met Burton Mack, and he seemed a rather jolly sort.

Mary and I went on a big bus tour to see all the sights. Here is the aftermath:

Lots of people didn’t recognize me because I shaved off my beard and wasn’t wearing my horned viking helmet. Must get a new photo.

Bought a whole pile of books, including McGrath’s edited volume on religion and science fiction.

AND I worked out a deal with James Spinti of Eisenbrauns for a WHOLE CASE of 16 “Drunkeness of Ilu” beer glasses for the soon-to-be-completed Tommy Gun Molly’s Swanky Jazz Bar (and Seminary) in my basement.

Went to some good sessions, too, but who cares about that?

And bumped into Jim West, but like I said, Mary and I still had a good time.

One of the highlights was dinner with Steve Wiggins and our chat about how I can save Biblical Studies if he would just let me write a book for Routledge.

Yay! Jim the biblioblogger and JazzBabe™ impressario is back. Only back-sliding and much wickedness can follow. Or so we hope.
