Have You Turd the Good News?

Well, lets start with some music! Here’s the Rolling Stones!

Yup, From Exiles on Main Street, it’s Turd on the Run, which was actually on the Air Canada entertainment system on my flights back from San Francisco.

And why all the turdiness? It’s in honour of Zeba Crook’s hopefully infamous comment in my session reviewing Roland Boer’s Secularism and Biblical Studies that we should be  viewing the Bible like any other old artifact, say, a fossilized dinosaur turd! So, lets run with that idea for a while, shall we?

Boer responded about the session, here, and on his new interpretative (bowel) movement at the conference  here

Now I fully get Zeba’s point, but since Bibles are continually reinvented as new artifacts by the faithful and their publishing industry, some bibles are not yet fossilized but are still kind of steamy, oozy, gushy turds.

Larua Dern, playing biblical scholar, Hermeneutica Crapinski,
searching for meaning, in the critically acclaimed film
Yer Ass is Sick,  Mark (director’s cut, with the longer ending, in 3D(ump).

Here is another turd that needs some narrative interpretation, just for the heck of it.

“Hey, I ask for the toilet paper and all you
do is poke the end of my finger? What kind of shit is this?”
“It’s called ‘inspiration’, go write the scroll yourself”

Well, that’s about as good as it is going to get, today, I’m afraid.

Oh yeah, I guess we have to do some Feminist critique, too, just so no one gets offended and I get in shit.

That was quite the analogy and I love how we proceeded to analyze it to death (do we study the object itself or the Dinosaur from which it came?). Great seeing you and your wife again at SBL, Jim
