LOLaCreationist Contest

YEs, The LOLaCreationist contest ended with a tie for first place! Two entries scored 8.1 out of 10. As specified in the rules, my deary-sweetie-love, Mary, made the final decision, and so here is the lucky kitty made by  Martha G. from who knows where:

So Martha wins the great plush Triceratops from the Royal Tyrrell Museum!

Runner up by a whisker is Short Eared Owl from West Virginia (who REALLY wanted the plushy). She wins the T-Rex shot glasses!

Following closely behind is Palaverer from parts unknown, with a score of an even 8/10. Perhaps if the kitty had a slightly smaller watermelon she could have caught up!

I will be contacting our two winners shortly and posting the prizes early next week.

Thanks to everyone who took part! I had a great time, and that’s what its all about!

So, what to do for next time? A faith-healing limerick contest? A homeopathic haiku competition?

In the meantime, go to the Royal Tyrrell site and you can order your own evolutionary paraphernalia! Better yet, go to the museum!

So hear are all the entries:

    Taxing credulity.

We should make one. Maybe the local budget could cover a 5-foot boat and animals from Toy ‘R’ Us.

KENTUCKY TO GRANT TAX INCENTIVES TO ARK PARK

The Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority voted unanimously on May 19, 2011, to grant tax incentives to Ark Encounter, according to the Associated Press (May 19, 2011). Ark Encounter is the proposed creationist theme park in northern Kentucky. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal (December 1, 2010), “Ark Encounter, which will feature a 500-foot-long wooden replica of Noah’s Ark containing live animals such as juvenile giraffes, is projected to cost $150 million and create 900 jobs … The park, to be located on 800 acres in Grant County off Interstate 75, also will include a Walled City, live animal shows, a replica of the Tower of Babel, a 500-seat special-effects theater, an aviary and a first-century Middle Eastern village.” Collaborating on the project are Ark Encounter LLC and the young-earth creationist ministry Answers in Genesis, which already operates a Creation “Museum” in northern Kentucky.
